Nick Dodge played two years with the Oakville Blades before playing four years (2004-2008) of ECAC with the Clarkson Golden Knights at Clarkson University. Dodge led the Golden Knights in scoring with 16 goals and 25 assists in 38 games. He received the Bill Harrison Award as the teams MVP, and was named captain for the 2006/07 season. Clarkson was one of the top turnaround stories in the 2006/07 season, and Dodge was a huge part of that. After finishing eighth in the ECACHL in 2005/06, the team placed second in the regular season. He scored 18 goals and had 21 assists, despite missing three games. The 2007-2008 season was a success for The Golden Knights, despite Dodge only scoring 12 goals and 14 assists in 39 games. He was named Best Defensive Forward in the ECACHL.

Dodge turned professional after suiting up the Carolina Hurricanes affiliate, the Albany River
Rats, for the 2008/09 season. He was acquired in the 6th round, drafted 183rd overall. In 80 games he scored 13 goals with 26 assists. The following year, he scored 16 goals with 26 assists and was +18.The team lost the Calder Cup final to Hershey, but Dodge scored 4 goals with 1 assist and was -3 in eight games.

He appeared in 57 games for the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) in his third season with the Carolina organization in 2010/11, missing several games due to a hand injury. He was assistant captain for the Checkers, recording 5 goals and eight assists in the regular season. In playoffs, he saw extensive ice time and scored 4 goals, two which were game winners. He also had 2 assists.

Dodge entered his third Carolina camp with an outside chance of making the Hurricanes. Hockey smarts and defensive play should give him a chance to be a bottom-six forward in the NHL. Nick Dodge is currently retired from the game.
