2017-2018 Rep Schedules Are Online in July - What Does This Mean?
Submitted By Rangers Rep Ice Scheduler on Friday, July 07, 2017
The Oakville Rangers Hockey Club is experimenting with some modernized procedures with respect to the rep schedules for the 2017-2018 season.  One part of this procedure involves increased transparency during the planning and creation process, which means that schedules will be visible to the general public in early July.  Read on to find out what this means and what you can / should do with these early schedules.

One thing you should definitely NOT do is print these early schedules.  In fact, printing the schedules is never a good idea since even during the season they can change for a variety of reasons.  But from when they are first posted in early July until late August, it's possible that as much as half of the initial home game nights and planned fixed practice times will change.  This is because during that time, the SCTA and Tri-County league schedules will be released and subsequently modified to work around tournaments and other blackout dates.  As the game schedules become finalized, more practices will also be added for each team.

During the process, the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club Scheduler will be providing frequent updates to rep coaches and managers with respect to the process and relative stages of completion.  Parents who have questions can direct them to their team's manager if needed - but really, until late August, it's probably best to relax and enjoy the rest of the summer!
Fun Facts about the 2017-2018 Season:
  • There are 47 Rep Teams this season - 9 SCTA (AAA) and 38 Tri-County (AA-AE, Tyke)
  • Traditionally most rep teams average 110 ice sessions in a season
  • New for this season, 16-20 "Development" sessions are also provided for AA-AE Teams Novice through Peewee (plus a few others)
  • Oakville Rangers Rep teams combined will be on the ice about 5,000 times for practices, development sessions, home games, away games, and tournament games.
  • Every change made to the schedule usually affects something else.  Sometimes it's like dropping a pebble in a pond.  Other times it's this...
