The Phantoms are now at the part of the season where they must bring their "A" game each and every game. The opposing teams have all improved and the Phantoms are finding the compete level must be high in order to achieve the desired result.
The Phantoms figured that out over the first two periods when, although they weren't playing poorly, they weren't clicking on all cylinders either. They persisted, however, and took advantage of opportunities afforded to them in the third period to put a few goals past a goalie who was on a three game shut out streak.
The boys have been in this situation in the past where they don't play with the sense of urgency they know they need to be successful and they end up playing a nail biter as a result. They then realize they must work hard each and every shift. The lesson only seems to last a few games before they need another wake up call. Hopefully, this was their wake up call. Oh these nine year olds!!
