I am so proud of the Wolverines tonight! Regardless of
the score, the boys played a great team game tonight. I saw so many
things I liked such as looking for head man passes, looking for options,
shooting at the net, scrambles in front of the opposition net, and back
checking. Are there some things to work on? Sure, but I enjoyed
watching all of the good things. I am especially proud of these guys for
coming back from a 6-4 deficit after two to tie it up. They would not
quit when they could have just mailed it in.
They have played two really good games in a row now. I think many players learned some things today about responsibility, not panicking, giving full effort and not giving up. I didn’t see the panic style play today like we have in the past.
We need to now work on identifying options and making quicker decisions, forwards need be moving for the break out passes, and the defence and forwards need to pick up opposing players in our slot sooner and stay with them longer. I did see our defence pick up many of the opposition players and thwart many centering passes especially the last half of the game where we limited the opposition to 1 goal. The more they do it the more natural it will become.
I cannot say enough about the improvements I have seen in the last two games. If they stay on this pace they will become a very tough team to deal with.
