The Ice Dogs knew it was win or out!
The boys realized the importance of the game vs the regular season champions. The Ice Dogs needed to play the same game they have been playing throughout these playoffs. The only bump in the road came last week when they were playing with an extremely short bench. A loss last week set the table for a must win game this weekend in order to advance.
The Ice Dogs were not ready to pack their lockers and hit the golf courses quite yet. They came out flying and dominated the play for the first period. By the end of the period they found themselves with a 2-0 lead. Although the second period was balanced play, the opponents were unable to penetrate the Ice Dog's defence. By the third period, the Ice Dogs were getting tired and the majority of play was in the neutral zone and the Ice Dogs end. They maintained their composure and stayed in position eliminating the opposition attacks.
The Ice Dogs defence was finally cracked with a couple minutes left and the opposition goalie on the bench. The threat was eliminated shortly after by a shot from the red line by the Ice Dog defenceman, Peter, which found its way into the open net. The final score was 3-1. A very impressive game.
