Solid Effort!
The Ice Dogs were hungry on Saturday and refused to stop.
The Ice Dogs were not a happy bunch after the game last week and were not in any mood to re-live that experience. They were a determined bunch. That was obvious in the locker room as they were all focused and ready to play.
The Ice Dogs came out skating and played a solid positional game. They were fierce around the opponent's net and caused many scrambles in front. The defence played exceptional and ensured the puck was cleared efficiently and protected their slot effectively. They ensured there were no breakaways this week and covered for one another.
The boys are learning that it will take a full team effort to win games. If one or two players take a day off it affects the performance of the entire team since each position relies on the others to be effective. There is a trust factor involved in playing team sports at any level. You must be able to trust your team mates to do their job effectively or players find themselves trying to compensate for others and everyone's performance suffers as a result (Leafs?).
